Luxury Wall Finishes in Miami — High-End Artisan Craftsmanship

Luxury wall finishes are bespoke, artisan-applied coatings that elevate interiors to a level that paint and wallpaper simply cannot reach. They include Venetian plaster, Marmorino, Grassello di Calce, lime wash, microcement, faux finishes, and metallic finishes — each one hand-applied by a master artisan and tailored to the specific architecture, lighting, and design intent of the space.

In Miami, luxury wall finishes are a hallmark of premium design. They appear in the city’s most prestigious residences — waterfront estates in Miami Beach, Mediterranean Revival homes in Coral Gables, penthouses in Brickell, and historic properties in Coconut Grove. They are also used in Miami’s finest hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, and yachts.

Exotic Wall Finishes founder Gian Carlo Sagasti is a Novacolor Global Ambassador (2017) and has been applying luxury finishes in Miami since 2015. He has been working with Italian lime plasters since 2003.

What Are Luxury Wall Finishes?

Luxury wall finishes are hand-applied mineral or cement-based coatings that transform ordinary walls into distinctive, high-end surfaces. They are not products purchased from a paint store — they are custom installations executed by a trained artisan over the course of days or weeks.

What distinguishes luxury wall finishes from conventional options:

  • Artisan-applied: Hand-troweled, burnished, or layered by a master
  • Mineral-based: Lime, marble dust, cement, and natural pigments
  • Durable: 20–30+ years with proper care
  • Breathable: Allows moisture vapor to pass through the wall
  • Custom: Fully bespoke to your design vision
  • Timeless: Adds lasting value and elegance to any space
  • Unique: Every installation is one of a kind

The main luxury wall finishes we install:

Venetian Plaster

Polished, marble-like finish burnished to a high-gloss or satin sheen. Reflects light and creates depth. Venetian plaster in Miami.

Marmorino

Matte, stone-like finish troweled for texture. Absorbs light and produces a warm, organic appearance. Marmorino in Miami.

Grassello di Calce

High-gloss Italian finish with a high marble content. Luminous, mirror-like surface.

Tadelakt

Moroccan-inspired lime finish treated with soap to become water-resistant. Ideal for bathrooms and wet areas.

Lime Wash

Mineral-based finish applied in translucent layers. Soft, matte, and breathable. Lime wash in Miami.

Microcement

Seamless, cement-based coating with no grout lines. Durable and waterproof when sealed. Microcement in Miami.

Faux Finishes

Hand-painted finishes that mimic marble, wood, stone, or metal. Faux finishes in Miami.

Metallic Finishes

Mica, bronze, gold, or silver pigments that create shimmer and depth.

Why Luxury Wall Finishes Work in Miami

Miami’s luxury real estate market is one of the most competitive in the world. At the high end, finishes matter — they differentiate properties, elevate interiors, and communicate quality. Luxury wall finishes deliver on all three.

Humidity Resistance Through Breathability

Lime-based finishes are breathable — they allow moisture vapor to pass through the wall rather than trapping it. This is critical in Miami, where trapped moisture leads to mold, mildew, and structural damage. Paint traps moisture; luxury lime finishes don’t.

Mold and Mildew Resistance

The alkaline pH of lime (12–13) creates an environment where mold and mildew cannot grow. In bathrooms, kitchens, and coastal properties, luxury finishes resist the biological growth that plagues painted surfaces.

Salt Air Durability

For waterfront estates and coastal properties, salt air damages conventional finishes. Lime-based luxury finishes are unaffected. Mineral materials don’t react to salt.

Seamless Surfaces

No grout lines, no seams, no peeling wallpaper edges. Luxury wall finishes create continuous surfaces — ideal for modern and traditional interiors alike.

Timeless Aesthetic That Matches Miami’s Architecture

Miami’s design language spans Mediterranean Revival (Coral Gables), Art Deco (Miami Beach), modern luxury (Brickell, Edgewater), and tropical contemporary (Coconut Grove). Luxury wall finishes fit all of them — and they’ve been used in Miami’s most prestigious homes for decades.

Adds Value to Luxury Real Estate

In Miami’s high-end market, finishes matter. A home with Venetian plaster, Marmorino, or microcement communicates craftsmanship and quality — and can support higher asking prices and faster sales.

Our Luxury Wall Finish Process — Step by Step

Step 1 — Consultation and Design

Every luxury finish project begins with a consultation. We discuss:

  • The type of finish you’re considering
  • The style and mood of the space
  • Color palette and lighting conditions
  • Specific surfaces to be finished
  • Inspiration images or reference materials

We provide sample boards so you can see and approve the finish in your own lighting before installation.

Step 2 — Surface Preparation

  • Repair all cracks, holes, and imperfections
  • Sand and level the surface to a smooth finish
  • Prime with the appropriate primer for the finish type
  • Mask and protect floors, furniture, trim, and adjacent surfaces

Step 3 — Base Coats

Depending on the finish, we apply 2 to 3 base coats of the appropriate material — lime putty for plasters, cement base for microcement.

Step 4 — Finish Coats

We apply 2 to 3 thin layers of the finished material. Each layer is worked to the desired texture and sheen — burnished for high-gloss, troweled for matte, layered for depth.

Step 5 — Sealing

Once cured, we apply a protective sealer suited to the finish and location. Wet areas receive a breathable waterproof sealer. High-traffic areas receive a protective topcoat.

Step 6 — Final Inspection

We walk the project with the client, review the finish under natural and artificial light, and provide written care instructions.
