Venetian Plaster Ceilings in Miami — Elegant, Durable, Unique
Venetian plaster ceilings add a level of elegance and sophistication that paint simply cannot match. The polished, marble-like finish reflects light and creates a sense of height, depth, and grandeur. In Miami, Venetian plaster ceilings are used in luxury homes, hotels, and commercial spaces to elevate interiors.
Unlike painted ceilings, which appear flat and lifeless, Venetian plaster ceilings have depth and movement. They catch light throughout the day — shifting from soft satin to warm glow depending on the angle of the sun. The effect is subtle but transformative.
Exotic Wall Finishes has been applying Venetian plaster in Miami since 2015. Our founder, Gian Carlo Sagasti, is a Novacolor Global Ambassador (2017) and has been working with Italian lime plasters since 2003.

Why Venetian Plaster Works on Miami Ceilings
Light Reflection and Room Brightness
Venetian plaster’s polished finish reflects light — making ceilings appear higher and rooms brighter. This is especially valuable in Miami homes where natural light is abundant and where ceiling height is a design feature.
Durability
Venetian plaster is harder and more durable than paint. It doesn’t peel, fade, or crack. It resists moisture, mold, and mildew — critical in Miami’s humid climate.
Seamless Finish
No seams, no visible joints, no trowel marks. Venetian plaster creates a continuous ceiling surface that looks and feels seamless.
Timeless Aesthetic
Miami’s luxury real estate market has embraced Venetian plaster ceilings for their Old World elegance and modern versatility. They’re used in Coral Gables estates, Brickell penthouses, and Miami Beach residences.
Adds Architectural Value
Ceilings are often an overlooked surface. Venetian plaster ceilings transform them into a design feature — adding architectural interest and increasing perceived value.

Our Venetian Plaster Ceiling Process
Step 1 — Consultation. We assess the ceiling substrate, existing fixtures, and lighting. We discuss color, sheen, and finish level.
Step 2 — Surface Preparation. Repair cracks, holes, and imperfections. Prime with an alkali-resistant primer. Mask and protect floors, furniture, and fixtures.
Step 3 — Base Coats. Apply 2–3 base coats of lime putty. Each coat is troweled on thinly and allowed to cure.
Step 4 — Finish Coats. Apply 2–3 thin layers of pigmented Venetian plaster. Burnish each layer to the desired sheen — satin, polished, or high-gloss.
Step 5 — Sealing (Optional). Apply a breathable sealer or natural wax if desired.
Step 6 — Final Inspection. Walk the project with the client, review under various lighting conditions, and provide care instructions.
