Microcement Flooring in Miami — Seamless, Durable, Modern

Microcement flooring is a seamless, cement-based coating that creates a modern, industrial-chic floor without grout lines, seams, or joints. It can be applied directly over existing surfaces — including tile, concrete, and plywood — making it a popular choice for renovations and new construction in Miami.

Unlike tile, microcement has no grout to clean or grow mold. Unlike polished concrete, it can be installed in existing spaces without demolition. Unlike wood, it doesn’t warp or swell in humidity. It’s a durable, waterproof, seamless surface built for Miami’s climate.

Exotic Wall Finishes has been applying microcement in Miami since 2015. Our founder, Gian Carlo Sagasti, is a Novacolor Global Ambassador (2017) and has been working with decorative finishes since 2003.

Why Microcement Flooring Works in Miami

Humidity and Water Resistance

Microcement is naturally water-resistant, and when sealed with a waterproof topcoat, it becomes fully waterproof. This makes it ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and coastal properties.

Seamless Surface — No Grout, No Mold

Tile grout is one of the most common places for mold to grow in Miami. Microcement eliminates grout entirely. The result is a continuous surface that’s easier to clean and more hygienic.

Durability in High-Traffic Spaces

Microcement is harder than tile and resists scratches, stains, and impact. In entryways, kitchens, and commercial spaces, it holds up far longer than most alternatives.

Modern Aesthetic

Miami’s luxury condos in Brickell, Edgewater, and Downtown have embraced microcement flooring for its clean, industrial-chic appearance. It works equally well in lofts, modern homes, and contemporary bathrooms.

Can Be Applied Over Existing Floors

Microcement can be applied over existing tile, concrete, or plywood — often without demolition. This saves time and money in renovations.

Our Microcement Flooring Process

Step 1 — Consultation. We assess the existing floor, substrate condition, moisture levels, and traffic load. We discuss finish, sheen, and anti-slip requirements.

Step 2 — Surface Preparation. Grind or sand the substrate to create a bonding profile. Repair cracks and imperfections. Prime with a bonding primer. Install fiber mesh in high-stress areas if needed.

Step 3 — Base Coats. Apply 2–3 base coats of microcement, each troweled thinly and allowed to cure.

Step 4 — Finish Coats. Apply 2–3 thin layers of pigmented microcement. Sand between coats to achieve the desired smoothness.

Step 5 — Sealing. Apply a waterproof sealer. Add anti-slip additive for bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor areas.

Step 6 — Inspection. Walk the floor with the client, review under natural and artificial light, and provide care instructions.
